<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6-ZxAlMctp8/UFLMfsWIMZI/AAAAAAAAA_w/A8j-39uI-Ps/s1600/IMG_0753.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6-ZxAlMctp8/UFLMfsWIMZI/AAAAAAAAA_w/A8j-39uI-Ps/s640/IMG_0753.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lCZOVVjKAfs/UFLPHX93cfI/AAAAAAAABAs/j-PQImjUNDk/s1600/before+&+after.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lCZOVVjKAfs/UFLPHX93cfI/AAAAAAAABAs/j-PQImjUNDk/s640/before+&+after.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Am I the only one obsessed with galaxy prints right now?? I thought not, so when I gave these shoes a makeover the other day I took it as a fine opportunity to blog about them in all their glory! The shoes themselves were ridic cheap- $4.74 at Big W if I remember correctly?- and I bought a pair specifically for DIY purposes, so you know, creative love right here! Anyhow, they took me less than half an hour to make, and I think they look pretty rad, so why not have a go yourself? Australian Summer is calling, and what finer wear could your feet be seen in on the lovely beaches?<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<em><strong>SUPPLIES:-</strong></em></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><div style="text-align: center;">
Plain canvas shoes (black, white or navy ones work well)</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: center;">
Electrical tape</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: center;">
Acrylic paint (red, blue, black and white)</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: center;">
Newspaper/ tissues</div>
</li>
<li><div style="text-align: center;">
A hard- bristled paintbrush</div>
</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ok, so to start off you'll need to remove the laces...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xTco_jnN6eQ/UFLQgDBtdMI/AAAAAAAABA0/Qpwnm0Gi9DQ/s1600/alaces.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xTco_jnN6eQ/UFLQgDBtdMI/AAAAAAAABA0/Qpwnm0Gi9DQ/s640/alaces.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
.... And cover the rubber rims of the shoes with electrical tape, so they remain paint- free:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7HZNQ8HTJSk/UFLRPPonsWI/AAAAAAAABA8/NupKX7JOMZs/s1600/atape.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7HZNQ8HTJSk/UFLRPPonsWI/AAAAAAAABA8/NupKX7JOMZs/s640/atape.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3SoWwDsELtI/UFLRTua_2KI/AAAAAAAABBE/O6jvuChTp8k/s1600/IMG_0713.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3SoWwDsELtI/UFLRTua_2KI/AAAAAAAABBE/O6jvuChTp8k/s640/IMG_0713.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next, mix up the three colours that will make the background of your galaxy print. I recommend a dark navy blue, a rich purple and a medium- light blue. When you're satisfied with your colours (make sure you mix enough!), ball up a tissue and dip it into the navy paint. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BPQtt91JCu4/UFLSawwEw6I/AAAAAAAABBM/8dWBaO2XS4E/s1600/apaint.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BPQtt91JCu4/UFLSawwEw6I/AAAAAAAABBM/8dWBaO2XS4E/s640/apaint.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong><em></em></strong> </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Proceed to sponge the paint over the entire surface of both shoes. Merge the other two colours into it gradually, blending the edges for a subtle effect. Don't worry if you can't see the bigger picture yet- I often look at my galaxy backgrounds and wonder whether it will look any good! Trust me, it will.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xcMGi8ENgdg/UFLTO6onILI/AAAAAAAABBU/cei638G8kh8/s1600/apaint2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xcMGi8ENgdg/UFLTO6onILI/AAAAAAAABBU/cei638G8kh8/s640/apaint2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Next, stuff your painted shoes with newspaper...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3KaGwl-xqFo/UFLT3BfwumI/AAAAAAAABBg/E10WI76Bce4/s1600/IMG_0732.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3KaGwl-xqFo/UFLT3BfwumI/AAAAAAAABBg/E10WI76Bce4/s640/IMG_0732.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
... And wet the end of your paintbrush, adding a small amount of white paint on the end. Hold the bristles firmly against your thumb, and flick in the direction of the shoes. This will make white spatters- stars- completing the galaxy print.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zFmee_50CwA/UFLUZOFQqrI/AAAAAAAABBo/jNtp5v-FU5c/s1600/IMG_0736.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zFmee_50CwA/UFLUZOFQqrI/AAAAAAAABBo/jNtp5v-FU5c/s640/IMG_0736.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Finally, remove the newspaper from the insides of the shoes...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m4aegtHgfvY/UFLVEdV251I/AAAAAAAABB4/sFJBcsbZkok/s1600/IMG_0747.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-m4aegtHgfvY/UFLVEdV251I/AAAAAAAABB4/sFJBcsbZkok/s640/IMG_0747.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... Peel off the electrical tape...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1qE0yONz98o/UFLVJiiB6VI/AAAAAAAABCA/mUxokLbbfJ0/s1600/IMG_0748.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1qE0yONz98o/UFLVJiiB6VI/AAAAAAAABCA/mUxokLbbfJ0/s640/IMG_0748.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... And re- thread the shoelaces.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vm4qrl_YEl4/UEB_1jDNiFI/AAAAAAAAA8w/kbrPBiOeMxQ/s1600/IMG_0692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vm4qrl_YEl4/UEB_1jDNiFI/AAAAAAAAA8w/kbrPBiOeMxQ/s640/IMG_0692.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KBCL_Qvatwk/UEB_5McqG-I/AAAAAAAAA84/7F2rbXgFCNE/s1600/IMG_0700.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="616" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KBCL_Qvatwk/UEB_5McqG-I/AAAAAAAAA84/7F2rbXgFCNE/s640/IMG_0700.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Today's DIY: turn a piece of driftwood into one of these cute pendants! I love the whole hippy/ boho beachy look, and this is the kind of piece that fits in perfectly with that scheme. I've been seeing quite a few of these in magazines lately, although theirs come from an elite fashion house and cost upwards of $200. Seriously, where has the DIY spirit gotten to? Driftwood comes in abundance and is wonderfully free from your nearest beach, plus when you wear it you can boast about how you made it yourself! So let's go; get your DIY on!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Supplies:<br />
+ Driftwood<br />
+ Sewing needle<br />
+ Craft wire (mine was plastic- coated copper)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, choose which piece of driftwood you'll use. Here's mine- it's around 5cm (2 inches) in length, plus it had some flat, spindly prongs I thought would be easy to poke a needle through. Take this into consideration when making your selection!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DnHNyVcWhRc/UECCcU9QqwI/AAAAAAAAA90/_EV7sf7a8xY/s1600/IMG_0560.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DnHNyVcWhRc/UECCcU9QqwI/AAAAAAAAA90/_EV7sf7a8xY/s640/IMG_0560.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, using your sewing needle pierce a hole through the top of the driftwood.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JNBuozIIFts/UECDjoWvexI/AAAAAAAAA98/qjyfrU-0ekY/s1600/IMG_0562.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JNBuozIIFts/UECDjoWvexI/AAAAAAAAA98/qjyfrU-0ekY/s640/IMG_0562.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oQc-q9rmAK4/UECDm5b4xCI/AAAAAAAAA-E/slkmRlEXgpE/s1600/IMG_0563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oQc-q9rmAK4/UECDm5b4xCI/AAAAAAAAA-E/slkmRlEXgpE/s640/IMG_0563.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then, thread a length of craft wire (10cm will be more than enough) through the hole you've created...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3dTikgOCAFY/UECEK76SXkI/AAAAAAAAA-M/GWq8RQMDhZE/s1600/IMG_0566.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3dTikgOCAFY/UECEK76SXkI/AAAAAAAAA-M/GWq8RQMDhZE/s640/IMG_0566.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9trH91Q_9yM/UECEOO5BiFI/AAAAAAAAA-U/3oJtKALEiuM/s1600/IMG_0568.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9trH91Q_9yM/UECEOO5BiFI/AAAAAAAAA-U/3oJtKALEiuM/s640/IMG_0568.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... and twist it around the neck of the driftwood a few times, creating a loop to thread the necklace through.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9Q8VQbMh-F4/UECEw0ekeOI/AAAAAAAAA-c/02USIy46T_o/s1600/IMG_0569.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9Q8VQbMh-F4/UECEw0ekeOI/AAAAAAAAA-c/02USIy46T_o/s640/IMG_0569.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MifDfaOGj4U/UECE2uoDPZI/AAAAAAAAA-k/NoCMl8bz0X0/s1600/IMG_0573.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MifDfaOGj4U/UECE2uoDPZI/AAAAAAAAA-k/NoCMl8bz0X0/s640/IMG_0573.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Trim off the excess wire, and you're all done! Fantastically simple in my opinion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uixYQ1UfSBc/UECFXQArZTI/AAAAAAAAA-s/KtFYwgINE9E/s1600/IMG_0578.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uixYQ1UfSBc/UECFXQArZTI/AAAAAAAAA-s/KtFYwgINE9E/s640/IMG_0578.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bJeVIB4xSJQ/UECFmpOUhdI/AAAAAAAAA-0/W-B8VlIZmO0/s1600/IMG_0695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bJeVIB4xSJQ/UECFmpOUhdI/AAAAAAAAA-0/W-B8VlIZmO0/s640/IMG_0695.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I cut it off an identical shirt I got for my birthday (which I love), and I think this is probably the best piece of clothing I've made yet! It was surprisingly simple- collar included- and I'll definately be making more soon. Enjoy!<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FL_Ec-GHmLU/UDm49aacCjI/AAAAAAAAA2A/wQkonYs26dI/s1600/cropped324t5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="406" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FL_Ec-GHmLU/UDm49aacCjI/AAAAAAAAA2A/wQkonYs26dI/s640/cropped324t5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This is a DIY I've been meaning to post about for awhile, and I'm so glad I've finally gotten around to it! These purses are a great way to recycle your old cassette tapes, and are really cute aswell! Come on, have a go- I promise it's not super hard!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Supplies:<br />
+ Cassette tapes<br />
+ Small screwdriver<br />
+ Hot glue gun<br />
+ Cardboard<br />
+ Zip (a longer one can be cut to size if necessary!)<br />
+ Scissors<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I got a whole lot of cassette tapes in an Op Shop for DIY purposes- off the top of my head, I think I got 13 for $2.60? So that's 20c per tape. Could it get any better??<br />
<br />
The one I used is called "The James Last Sound: The Tony James Orchestra". Look at all that majesty (and 70's hair!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9ojzIEUFo0s/UDm6soN_cnI/AAAAAAAAA2I/kVOALpPqGhY/s1600/DSCF2654.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9ojzIEUFo0s/UDm6soN_cnI/AAAAAAAAA2I/kVOALpPqGhY/s640/DSCF2654.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
So firstly, I used my screwdriver to unscrew the four corners of the tape. (This should apply to most tapes)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_jbwtnwUF7g/UDm6-1-v6fI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/ocWXjbNu47M/s1600/DSCF2656.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_jbwtnwUF7g/UDm6-1-v6fI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/ocWXjbNu47M/s640/DSCF2656.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
When you open the cassette up, you'll find all these fun bits and pieces. Take them out- they're not needed now, but I kept all of them inside the cassette cover- future DIY pieces, me thinks! You'll be left with the cassette shell, which is what we want.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BlAnLCynjUc/UDm8A2SClXI/AAAAAAAAA2g/YwSLXb3umO8/s1600/DSCF2658.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BlAnLCynjUc/UDm8A2SClXI/AAAAAAAAA2g/YwSLXb3umO8/s640/DSCF2658.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yobAu4U29F4/UDm8HoMegaI/AAAAAAAAA2o/dhkNDje89qk/s1600/DSCF2671.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yobAu4U29F4/UDm8HoMegaI/AAAAAAAAA2o/dhkNDje89qk/s640/DSCF2671.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, cut two pieces of cardboard approximately 9.5 x 6cm to place inside each half of the cassette shell. This is to ensure your treasures don't fall out of the holes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0CUR4sYX9gM/UDm83nnNDBI/AAAAAAAAA2w/r7aqi7r2ItY/s1600/IMG_0378.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0CUR4sYX9gM/UDm83nnNDBI/AAAAAAAAA2w/r7aqi7r2ItY/s640/IMG_0378.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zlKxdYBiD5s/UDm9Da_EyxI/AAAAAAAAA24/S-PjbcnhL8I/s1600/IMG_0380.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zlKxdYBiD5s/UDm9Da_EyxI/AAAAAAAAA24/S-PjbcnhL8I/s640/IMG_0380.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, this is where it gets a bit tricky, but never fear! Unzip your zip, and using your hot glue gun tack the edge of the zipper to the edge of the cassette shell, a few centimetres at a time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ExbBiuCxYAI/UDm-XruokJI/AAAAAAAAA3I/uvZHVUlQc7Y/s1600/IMG_0381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ExbBiuCxYAI/UDm-XruokJI/AAAAAAAAA3I/uvZHVUlQc7Y/s640/IMG_0381.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2MciG_6Grz8/UDm-brEaqOI/AAAAAAAAA3Q/PfXvttIAf3E/s1600/IMG_0382.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2MciG_6Grz8/UDm-brEaqOI/AAAAAAAAA3Q/PfXvttIAf3E/s640/IMG_0382.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Finally, line up the other side of the zip with the other half of the cassette shell and glue it down accordingly. Once you've finished that, you're all done!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YQv6Nhyosh4/UDm-fh4wBpI/AAAAAAAAA3Y/JDsu2blEgYs/s1600/IMG_0384.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YQv6Nhyosh4/UDm-fh4wBpI/AAAAAAAAA3Y/JDsu2blEgYs/s640/IMG_0384.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KcGC-ExisI8/UC4OwtUQOpI/AAAAAAAAAzo/KLlGii5mUak/s1600/collage+cropped+edges.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="562" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KcGC-ExisI8/UC4OwtUQOpI/AAAAAAAAAzo/KLlGii5mUak/s640/collage+cropped+edges.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I'm a definate fan of the ombre/ candy coloured hair trends, but I've never dyed mine before, and a little scared to make the commitment to such a colourful mop! This is why hair chalking is such a great idea- done on dry hair, it should come out in a wash or two (unless your hair is very dry/ light)!<br />
<br />
<br />
All you'll need for this DIY is a set of soft pastels (available in art/ craft stores) and 5 minutes of spare time. So come on- have a go!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
SUPPLIES:<br />
+ Soft pastels<br />
+ Hair!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I used these soft pastels by jasart. They cost around $10, and can be used for any multitude of things!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VmxjiDgjU1Y/UC7R5M3yT0I/AAAAAAAAA1M/WM0dzB8vxSY/s1600/IMG_0477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VmxjiDgjU1Y/UC7R5M3yT0I/AAAAAAAAA1M/WM0dzB8vxSY/s640/IMG_0477.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, take a small piece of your hair and either pull it taut or twist it around your finger a few times (making your hair into a rope gives it more texture, making it easier to transfer pigment). Then, swipe the soft pastel of your choice across your hair horizontally. Be gentle when doing this- if you're not careful, you might snap pieces of your hair off!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HvLJms0Qb7c/UC4QTMZAInI/AAAAAAAAAzw/yYbF1DrK7MI/s1600/IMG_0504.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HvLJms0Qb7c/UC4QTMZAInI/AAAAAAAAAzw/yYbF1DrK7MI/s640/IMG_0504.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W3GJHEMZWgA/UC4QZSMgXTI/AAAAAAAAAz4/Ep2Qn2QlKs4/s1600/IMG_0508.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W3GJHEMZWgA/UC4QZSMgXTI/AAAAAAAAAz4/Ep2Qn2QlKs4/s640/IMG_0508.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, you may want to leave your hair as- is, with the horizontal stripes still visible, but I wanted a more subtle colour transition, so I gently massaged in the chalk with my fingertips. Easy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XtvFlO-N2Wo/UC4Qdc6P6EI/AAAAAAAAA0A/7Ko13p3eS9c/s1600/IMG_0516.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XtvFlO-N2Wo/UC4Qdc6P6EI/AAAAAAAAA0A/7Ko13p3eS9c/s640/IMG_0516.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fuEb92Y3BXM/UC4QhZu6lPI/AAAAAAAAA0I/_hDACKF-CT4/s1600/IMG_0521.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fuEb92Y3BXM/UC4QhZu6lPI/AAAAAAAAA0I/_hDACKF-CT4/s640/IMG_0521.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And there you have it- instant colourful locks! Just remember to condition your hair well afterwards- the chalk can make your hair feel a little dry...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jXKLaI6pb0U/UC4Rfpx5I0I/AAAAAAAAA0Y/rg6ttRlU6n0/s1600/edited6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jXKLaI6pb0U/UC4Rfpx5I0I/AAAAAAAAA0Y/rg6ttRlU6n0/s640/edited6.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XxZPwWaopcw/UC4RaVZOnBI/AAAAAAAAA0Q/fxjTJCQ7WfA/s1600/edited.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XxZPwWaopcw/UC4RaVZOnBI/AAAAAAAAA0Q/fxjTJCQ7WfA/s640/edited.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Well, this has definately been a busy two weeks for me! I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long, but I promise this is the busiest part of my year, and my creative presence is now here to stay. <br />
<br />
<br />
Here's a cool little steampunk- esque bracelet I whipped up today- I've seen quite a few on <a href="http://www.etsy.com/" target="_blank"><strong>Etsy</strong></a> lately, and so finally made one for myself! They're actually surprisingly easy to make, once you've made the few necessary measurements.<br />
<br />
<br />
So come on, have a go- I promise you'll have an awesome bracelet to show for it at the end!<br />

<br />
<br />
<strong>SUPPLIES:</strong><br />
<br />
+ Pliers<br />
+ A dressmaker's measuring tape<br />
+ At least 20cm of a large- ringed chain<br />
+ At least 30cm of a small- ringed chain<br />
+ At least 10cm of a medium- ringed chain<br />
+ 5 jump rings<br />
+ A clasp<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, measure around your wrist and the distance from your middle finger to the top of your wrist- note the measurements.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1H08olSHmQM/UCXIMprcKDI/AAAAAAAAAuo/rfwvpsMvXD8/s1600/IMG_0411.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="416" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1H08olSHmQM/UCXIMprcKDI/AAAAAAAAAuo/rfwvpsMvXD8/s640/IMG_0411.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, cut a piece of the large- ringed chain a little longer than your wrist measurement, and <strong>two</strong> pieces of the small- ringed chain the same length as the measurement from your middle finger to wrist.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vAkb0CBzjEo/UCXIVAxMPmI/AAAAAAAAAuw/4PXTnEs74oY/s1600/IMG_0414.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vAkb0CBzjEo/UCXIVAxMPmI/AAAAAAAAAuw/4PXTnEs74oY/s640/IMG_0414.JPG" width="568" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, measure a piece of the medium- ringed chain around your middle finger, then trim and connect the ends to make a ring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eiATEABNawY/UCXKJfo8H9I/AAAAAAAAAu4/Q-qav-dghus/s1600/IMG_0420.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="326" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eiATEABNawY/UCXKJfo8H9I/AAAAAAAAAu4/Q-qav-dghus/s640/IMG_0420.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now you've got all of the components of your bracelet cut and measured, lay them out as I have below. Using 4 of the jump rings, attach the two lengths of small- ringed chain to the ring and bracelet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cdGjXHWzu0k/UCXN_N13BAI/AAAAAAAAAwI/3W1_zIHUPq0/s1600/IMG_0426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="502" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cdGjXHWzu0k/UCXN_N13BAI/AAAAAAAAAwI/3W1_zIHUPq0/s640/IMG_0426.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D0CIdJTYFvc/UCXOFT6M7NI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/ziy1aSO265g/s1600/IMG_0428.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D0CIdJTYFvc/UCXOFT6M7NI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/ziy1aSO265g/s640/IMG_0428.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Lastly, using the 5th jump ring attach the clasp to one end of your bracelet. Voila!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Hi there! Yet another Show & Tell today.. but I promise it's a good one! I don't know who remembers, but a while ago I did a post on some of my end- of- semester schoolbook doodles (<a href="http://kookyquirkycute.blogspot.com/2012/06/show-tell-when-i-should-be-doing-my.html" target="_blank">here</a>). Anyhow, one of them actually inspired my to produce this fineliner drawing- I went home that night after school and the drawing just flowed! <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I've been doing it on and off for about a month now, adding a new element as each one occured to me. But last night I finished it, and I'm really excited! The only thing I'm a little dissappointed about is the faint crinkles and a slight rip in the top left corner, courtesy of my lovely cat. Thanks Justine! Anyway, what do you think??<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
(PS- Happy 3 month anniversary, Kooky Quirky Cute!)<br />

I'd like to share some photos I took of my sister the other day. I think they're rad for a few reasons; for one, they were completely spontaneous (they were literally taken in excess of 10 minutes!), and also they're so natural, so <em>her.</em> The whole time she was pulling faces at me and asking when I was done, and her personality really comes across in these photos. She's also very photogenic, so if I need a model all I need to do is yell out for her (plus a bit of convincing!) Here are some of my favourites...<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u5OpVs7r_a8/UA-8O11jtnI/AAAAAAAAAns/uf8FHs2hw3k/s1600/croppedhair4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u5OpVs7r_a8/UA-8O11jtnI/AAAAAAAAAns/uf8FHs2hw3k/s640/croppedhair4.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hey there! Yet another fab DIY- turning an old sock into a bun shaping donut!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I personally think these are a great idea- they've been this year's new hair initiative, which allows you to create the perfect bun in minutes. They're around $15 in a chemist/ other hair- accessory- stocking- shop, but I kind of thought, <em>why buy what you can easily make??</em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So that was kind of my inspiration for this DIY. Also, Katie from <a href="http://www.golddustk.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Gold Dust</a> recently posted a similar DIY using a sock, but with a different method. Thanks for the great idea! Well, here goes..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Supplies:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
+ A sock- preferably a long one.<br />
+ Scissors<br />
+ A needle & thread<br />
<br />
- That's it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I actually used one of those weird flight socks you get when you go up in the air... I never wear them, so I thought this was a good use to put them to!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cUuqpgUxl78/UA--jCYt5cI/AAAAAAAAAn8/IcnBOVA3JF4/s1600/IMG_0163.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cUuqpgUxl78/UA--jCYt5cI/AAAAAAAAAn8/IcnBOVA3JF4/s640/IMG_0163.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, cut open the bottom end of your sock.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--zLJSiohNbk/UA--zuUQFBI/AAAAAAAAAoE/RGdCaGeXyA4/s1600/IMG_0164.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--zLJSiohNbk/UA--zuUQFBI/AAAAAAAAAoE/RGdCaGeXyA4/s640/IMG_0164.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, start rolling up your sock, turning it inside out; every few rolls, stop and pull the loose end to tighten up the donut.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oKLvakqGJrE/UA-_IrGbspI/AAAAAAAAAoM/v02bhIjB6Vs/s1600/IMG_0165.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oKLvakqGJrE/UA-_IrGbspI/AAAAAAAAAoM/v02bhIjB6Vs/s640/IMG_0165.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o8BlIyQvSEc/UA-_MTLaNuI/AAAAAAAAAoU/1Xa-d_pl_Y0/s1600/IMG_0167.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o8BlIyQvSEc/UA-_MTLaNuI/AAAAAAAAAoU/1Xa-d_pl_Y0/s640/IMG_0167.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q2hgns7ubH8/UA-_PM2OwHI/AAAAAAAAAoc/20lvtNw7bwM/s1600/IMG_0168.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q2hgns7ubH8/UA-_PM2OwHI/AAAAAAAAAoc/20lvtNw7bwM/s640/IMG_0168.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, once you've finished you'll probably have a little bit of over- hang, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_8NSFzG5f7I/UA-_mxd_gbI/AAAAAAAAAok/wbaR6oJEhZk/s1600/IMG_0170.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_8NSFzG5f7I/UA-_mxd_gbI/AAAAAAAAAok/wbaR6oJEhZk/s640/IMG_0170.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
My solution: Roll it round one last time as tightly as you can...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qBXYrbry05s/UA-_qbCeB6I/AAAAAAAAAos/0lsPGP6Fzaw/s1600/IMG_0171.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qBXYrbry05s/UA-_qbCeB6I/AAAAAAAAAos/0lsPGP6Fzaw/s640/IMG_0171.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tQ9lbLW38Tc/UA-_tRsfxOI/AAAAAAAAAo0/tqd80nqkB2g/s1600/IMG_0172.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tQ9lbLW38Tc/UA-_tRsfxOI/AAAAAAAAAo0/tqd80nqkB2g/s640/IMG_0172.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
... Then with your needle and thread, loosly stitch the ends into place (about 6 stitches should do it.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Fab- your bun donut's not ready to use! What- you don't know how, you say? Never fear, I am here!<br />
<br />
<br />
First, gather your hair into a nice ponytail, at least at the crown of your head (mine looked like a genie hair- do!) Then, slide the donut into your hair and push it down so it sits on top of your head.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yzqhYPO33pQ/UA_BBB6p_UI/AAAAAAAAApM/knQ52vQZjns/s1600/IMG_0239.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yzqhYPO33pQ/UA_BBB6p_UI/AAAAAAAAApM/knQ52vQZjns/s640/IMG_0239.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then, tilt your head forwards slightly and arrange your hair so it covers the donut and there's a part- type hole in the middle:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eXDPQ3L4Mh8/UA_BFgyAo1I/AAAAAAAAApU/YIaeqg3nGDU/s1600/IMG_0243.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eXDPQ3L4Mh8/UA_BFgyAo1I/AAAAAAAAApU/YIaeqg3nGDU/s640/IMG_0243.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, moving around the donut, tuck the ends under and continue working your way around so the bun shaper is completely hidden.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xqX6RqiTSjo/UA_BKM44JxI/AAAAAAAAApc/NXsO2ruBBPc/s1600/IMG_0249.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xqX6RqiTSjo/UA_BKM44JxI/AAAAAAAAApc/NXsO2ruBBPc/s640/IMG_0249.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0WGaojruxZ8/UA_BNJ-3EMI/AAAAAAAAApk/N255MoaPQYQ/s1600/IMG_0250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0WGaojruxZ8/UA_BNJ-3EMI/AAAAAAAAApk/N255MoaPQYQ/s640/IMG_0250.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Lastly, secure the ends with a second hair tie- no bobby pins needed!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Hi there! Here's my latest li'l DIY: how to make your own slide knot charm bracelets. The bracelets I made for this tutorial have quite a beachy feel to them (I actually made them not long before a long beachcombing trip!), but depending on the charms and string you use to make them, this totally doesn't have to be the case!<br />
<br />
<br />
I've actually used this method as a necklace in a previous DIY to show off a pendant I made (<a href="http://kookyquirkycute.blogspot.com/2012/06/diy-wrapped-gemstoneseaglassseashell.html" target="_blank">here!</a>), but I thought it'd probably be worth giving it it's own time in the spotlight. So, here goes- DIY after the jump!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Supplies:<br />
<br />
+ Charms<br />
+ 25cm lengths of string (you may also want to use thin leather, satin cord, etc.)<br />
+Scissors<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
To start off, slide your charm onto one of your lengths of string:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iN5AkGP3PcA/UAp4MkW4xTI/AAAAAAAAAmE/QQ7WS0OP3no/s1600/IMG_0066.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iN5AkGP3PcA/UAp4MkW4xTI/AAAAAAAAAmE/QQ7WS0OP3no/s640/IMG_0066.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then bring one end of string back around and pinch in the middle, like so:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1yMZHa4st98/UAp4bXkDB-I/AAAAAAAAAmQ/ux673DEg6Sg/s1600/IMG_0068.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1yMZHa4st98/UAp4bXkDB-I/AAAAAAAAAmQ/ux673DEg6Sg/s640/IMG_0068.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, we tie a sliding knot! Take the longer end of string (the one on the outside) and wrap it around the shorter length twice (coming from the outside in) to form two loops.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZXmpNl6cfCI/UAp4y_H0rrI/AAAAAAAAAmY/B9_ih8-pmm8/s1600/IMG_0070.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZXmpNl6cfCI/UAp4y_H0rrI/AAAAAAAAAmY/B9_ih8-pmm8/s640/IMG_0070.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, take the end and thread it back through the two loops...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cN3Ty8lhBN0/UAp42Cpy2hI/AAAAAAAAAmg/QiSr0hGgmyU/s1600/IMG_0072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cN3Ty8lhBN0/UAp42Cpy2hI/AAAAAAAAAmg/QiSr0hGgmyU/s640/IMG_0072.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... And gently pull it tight (but not too tight!) to form your first sliding knot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E6Vdf0lSMB0/UAp44yHEBdI/AAAAAAAAAmo/RNCvnlTCPuE/s1600/IMG_0077.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E6Vdf0lSMB0/UAp44yHEBdI/AAAAAAAAAmo/RNCvnlTCPuE/s640/IMG_0077.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, repeat for the other end of your string, remembering to make your loops by bringing the string from the outside in towards you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2aN50_kYkWs/UAp5fnd7HoI/AAAAAAAAAmw/2ppY3LNdqKc/s1600/IMG_0078.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2aN50_kYkWs/UAp5fnd7HoI/AAAAAAAAAmw/2ppY3LNdqKc/s640/IMG_0078.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tqnll7T-WVs/UAp5iO_VVJI/AAAAAAAAAm4/3IyY2xByRMc/s1600/IMG_0079.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tqnll7T-WVs/UAp5iO_VVJI/AAAAAAAAAm4/3IyY2xByRMc/s640/IMG_0079.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, trim the ends of the string...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GUwgws6mcDQ/UAp5mKAtSjI/AAAAAAAAAnA/JlsRH6kJj8s/s1600/IMG_0081.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GUwgws6mcDQ/UAp5mKAtSjI/AAAAAAAAAnA/JlsRH6kJj8s/s640/IMG_0081.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... And your bracelet is ready to wear!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d0Jfe0ph548/UAp59JvQ8II/AAAAAAAAAnI/x8aow1yPaxs/s1600/IMG_0082.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d0Jfe0ph548/UAp59JvQ8II/AAAAAAAAAnI/x8aow1yPaxs/s640/IMG_0082.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Slide it on, then get someone to help you slide the knots out until it fits you comfortably.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
Well hi! Here's another simple- but- fab DIY for you- coloured bobby pins, transformed into a cute hair statement with a bit of nail polish! The main key to this one is patience- you really need to wait for the polish to dry, or you'll end up with some nice rock- hard streaks in your hair (Tip: save that one for the bottle of hair dye.) Other than that, it's pretty much foolproof!<br />
<br />
<br />
Well, what are you waiting for? Instructions after the jump!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<strong>Supplies:</strong><br />
<br />
+ Newspaper<br />
+ Bobby pins<br />
+ Nail polish<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step one: Slide your bobby pins onto afew pieces of folded- up newspaper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SdfwMVZih9Q/UAI5dxAWDyI/AAAAAAAAAkg/B633Os4urQo/s1600/DSCF3239.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SdfwMVZih9Q/UAI5dxAWDyI/AAAAAAAAAkg/B633Os4urQo/s640/DSCF3239.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bbwxWrGWAWQ/UAI5twpHQ1I/AAAAAAAAAko/iulm_zIMNxw/s1600/DSCF3240.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bbwxWrGWAWQ/UAI5twpHQ1I/AAAAAAAAAko/iulm_zIMNxw/s640/DSCF3240.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step two: coat each bobby pin with some nail polish (and don't forget to do the backs, too!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d6fBQg3UA4I/UAI6IbbsQCI/AAAAAAAAAkw/GOkjSSqoB68/s1600/DSCF3242.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-d6fBQg3UA4I/UAI6IbbsQCI/AAAAAAAAAkw/GOkjSSqoB68/s640/DSCF3242.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-02XkWrMWwLA/UAI6MU4h8QI/AAAAAAAAAk4/M-S5LbiTSwk/s1600/DSCF3245.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-02XkWrMWwLA/UAI6MU4h8QI/AAAAAAAAAk4/M-S5LbiTSwk/s640/DSCF3245.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step three: Hang your piece of folded newspaper on your clothesline, so your bobby pins can dry in the breeze. (Note: this may take a while, so you may want to leave them out there overnight like I did)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6OXAU18JfKQ/UAI6z5cDB7I/AAAAAAAAAlA/2CSVdgeFaXc/s1600/DSCF3248.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6OXAU18JfKQ/UAI6z5cDB7I/AAAAAAAAAlA/2CSVdgeFaXc/s640/DSCF3248.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VRVTgMfacv4/UAI63i-qLnI/AAAAAAAAAlI/ZTX0vPggZxg/s1600/DSCF3250.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VRVTgMfacv4/UAI63i-qLnI/AAAAAAAAAlI/ZTX0vPggZxg/s640/DSCF3250.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Step four: Once they've dried, take them off the clothesline and slide them off your newspaper. Now they're ready to wear!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1isV-u7Ceiw/UAI7bgpJHUI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/rzm2HXDGWqo/s1600/DSCF3263.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1isV-u7Ceiw/UAI7bgpJHUI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/rzm2HXDGWqo/s640/DSCF3263.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while- it's been a pretty hectic week for me. Anyhow, here's my latesy DIY- a peter pan collar necklace! These bib- style collars have been "in" for a while now, which is why I like these kind of chain necklaces- same trend, new twist. <br />
<br />
<br />
Another great thing about them is that they're quite versatile, and can look quite sophisticated along with the right clothes. And you don't necessarily have to wear it with a high- necked top- trust me, this will save you alot of rifling through your wardrobe!<br />
<br />
<br />
Well, here's the DIY- I hope you enjoy it! Click through to have a peek.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<em><strong>Supplies:</strong></em><br />
<br />
+ 84cm of chain<br />
+ 5 jump rings<br />
+ A clasp<br />
+ Some pliers<br />
+ A tailor's measuring tape<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Ok, so before I start to recite the actual DIY, here's a diagram I drew up that highlights the main measurements of the necklace. If you're more of the <em>steal- the- idea, don't- bother- reading- the- actual- DIY</em> person (like me!), you should be able to work your way through without too much error based on this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CbyGlqv82r0/T_-X8E-hvgI/AAAAAAAAAi0/-4Ivm2goUNI/s1600/DIY+diagram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="326" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CbyGlqv82r0/T_-X8E-hvgI/AAAAAAAAAi0/-4Ivm2goUNI/s640/DIY+diagram.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Read read the step- by- step instructions? Here goes. Firstly, you'll need to cut your chain into 3 seperate pieces- a 40cm length for the 'band', and two 22cm pieces to make the collar.<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, attach the clasp to the end of the 40cm chain length with a jump ring...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KEVBDvT10nU/T_-Ytvqmz_I/AAAAAAAAAjA/RKZ_jFkT770/s1600/DSCF3211.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KEVBDvT10nU/T_-Ytvqmz_I/AAAAAAAAAjA/RKZ_jFkT770/s640/DSCF3211.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... And place another jump ring 8cm from the opposite end (the extra will give you a little off- hanging piece of chain, which I think looks nice), like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vSw_6xcx6ZY/T_-Y_cYr61I/AAAAAAAAAjI/rR2poS_QddU/s1600/DSCF3213.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vSw_6xcx6ZY/T_-Y_cYr61I/AAAAAAAAAjI/rR2poS_QddU/s640/DSCF3213.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, using a jump ring attach the end of one of your 22cm chain lengths 4cm in from the end of your necklace (not counting the off- hang on one end).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J4B6qe-a2GA/T_-aqwf2tMI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/bBfVS_BPFcc/s1600/1diagram+necklace+end.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J4B6qe-a2GA/T_-aqwf2tMI/AAAAAAAAAjQ/bBfVS_BPFcc/s640/1diagram+necklace+end.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... Then repeat for the other end:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-atcprYkqoVQ/T_-bHFXntLI/AAAAAAAAAjY/6PmaijdNMjo/s1600/1diagram+necl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-atcprYkqoVQ/T_-bHFXntLI/AAAAAAAAAjY/6PmaijdNMjo/s640/1diagram+necl.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, it's time to join the two other ends of your collar together at the centre of your necklace. To do this, slide each end onto a jump ring, then slide the jump ring into the chain loop at the centre of your necklace, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LotA92wgmOM/T_-bv5AYksI/AAAAAAAAAjg/fRlqpaQSOB8/s1600/DSCF3223.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LotA92wgmOM/T_-bv5AYksI/AAAAAAAAAjg/fRlqpaQSOB8/s640/DSCF3223.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_KDTFlpEkNw/T_-bzYNw1lI/AAAAAAAAAjo/vi74cfFuS80/s1600/DSCF3221.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_KDTFlpEkNw/T_-bzYNw1lI/AAAAAAAAAjo/vi74cfFuS80/s640/DSCF3221.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
That's it- your necklace will now be fully wearable! Now all that's left to do is find a cute top to wear it with..<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--oAZpOzCSbw/T_Z65cxeotI/AAAAAAAAAgc/_ZlDdF6hzeo/s1600/DSCF3050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--oAZpOzCSbw/T_Z65cxeotI/AAAAAAAAAgc/_ZlDdF6hzeo/s640/DSCF3050.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-We4M8STdYWs/T_Z62_t7i4I/AAAAAAAAAgU/_Rfyb4jbL5E/s1600/DSCF3048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-We4M8STdYWs/T_Z62_t7i4I/AAAAAAAAAgU/_Rfyb4jbL5E/s640/DSCF3048.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well well well- what do you think?? One of my procrastination projects has finally come to life! I raided our old toy box the other day and picked out all these little doll accessories- hair- driers, shovels, brushes, bottles.. I even managed to find a pointe shoe! And the result is actually quite fashionable- I've seen quite a few high- end bracelets and necklaces for sale with practically identical pendants (minus the expensive metal part), and the only difference is that they cost upwards of $90. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a really simple project, and a great way to recycle some of your old toy bits and bobs, so why not give it a go? Instructions after the break!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Supplies you'll need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Some doll toy accessories</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Some silver spray paint</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ An empty charm bracelet</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Some jump rings</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Pliers</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Newspaper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To start off, collect all your accessories. You'll probably want around 7 or so, depending on the size of your charm bracelet.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dS7I-U5jStg/T_Z-U9K-12I/AAAAAAAAAgo/zIhNl_EJ4Po/s1600/DSCF2969.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dS7I-U5jStg/T_Z-U9K-12I/AAAAAAAAAgo/zIhNl_EJ4Po/s640/DSCF2969.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next, move outside and lay out your charms on your newspaper, ready to be spray- painted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x3ZHx4bRNtc/T_Z-zG8K0zI/AAAAAAAAAgw/gPYE1eRJqcI/s1600/DSCF2972.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x3ZHx4bRNtc/T_Z-zG8K0zI/AAAAAAAAAgw/gPYE1eRJqcI/s640/DSCF2972.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now it's time to spray your charms! Hold your can around 20cm away from the newspaper, and check the direction of the wind before you start to avoid catastrophy! (PS- I actually used some silver shoe paint for this part- ssssh!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JiYe74n_aeI/T_Z_nww7PfI/AAAAAAAAAhI/ibGcbRM6R9Q/s1600/DSCF2975.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JiYe74n_aeI/T_Z_nww7PfI/AAAAAAAAAhI/ibGcbRM6R9Q/s640/DSCF2975.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, turn your charms over...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
... And spray the other sides!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now your charms are ready to be attached to your bracelet! I won't go into details for this bit, as the way you attach each charm will vary depending on a few factors. However, here is how I attached some tricky charms...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gFSc0dbVxr0/T_EY7IOD88I/AAAAAAAAAe8/gTvutconUwk/s1600/cropped.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gFSc0dbVxr0/T_EY7IOD88I/AAAAAAAAAe8/gTvutconUwk/s640/cropped.jpg" width="422" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
How do you like these pencil nub pendants? It's something I've been wanting to try out for a while now, and I'm so glad I finally did it! They're quite easy to make too, which is a bonus. Want to make some youself? Instrucitons after the jump!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
So, the supplies you'll need are:<br />
+ A pencil/ pencil nub<br />
+ Some sandpaper<br />
+ Some fine wire<br />
+ Some PolyCement, super glue or a hot glue gun<br />
+ Some BluTack<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, if you're working with a whole pencil, snap it off to the length you'd like your pendant to be.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KkV-peuK-mM/T_EaFP5LdlI/AAAAAAAAAfE/VHTkojJqb1M/s1600/DSCF2942.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KkV-peuK-mM/T_EaFP5LdlI/AAAAAAAAAfE/VHTkojJqb1M/s640/DSCF2942.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, sand the rough, broken end of your pencil down until it's nice and smooth...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1RIhKNm_5Mo/T_EaczRQXOI/AAAAAAAAAfM/vbNpYXTOiCE/s1600/DSCF2944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1RIhKNm_5Mo/T_EaczRQXOI/AAAAAAAAAfM/vbNpYXTOiCE/s640/DSCF2944.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Uy0XtGb5BaA/T_Eaf5O2wWI/AAAAAAAAAfU/DpjK8v8YXwc/s1600/DSCF2958.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Uy0XtGb5BaA/T_Eaf5O2wWI/AAAAAAAAAfU/DpjK8v8YXwc/s640/DSCF2958.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, if your pencil's looking a little blunt, give it a good sharpening!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqwnNjRndY8/T_Eawf4CXJI/AAAAAAAAAfc/AebZbbqZKtw/s1600/DSCF2959.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZqwnNjRndY8/T_Eawf4CXJI/AAAAAAAAAfc/AebZbbqZKtw/s640/DSCF2959.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Finally, wrap your piece of fine wire around your pencil nub three or so times...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UY9zecNC3-g/T_EbGlC3iKI/AAAAAAAAAfo/91nyEzFsuqQ/s1600/DSCF2960.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UY9zecNC3-g/T_EbGlC3iKI/AAAAAAAAAfo/91nyEzFsuqQ/s640/DSCF2960.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... Then bend it into a shape that will allow it to be hung off a necklace, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DEw9TkcZ2zs/T_EbJgNF8jI/AAAAAAAAAfw/8ajnxf_9YvI/s1600/DSCF2962.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DEw9TkcZ2zs/T_EbJgNF8jI/AAAAAAAAAfw/8ajnxf_9YvI/s640/DSCF2962.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Finally, secure the wire with some PolyCement or other strong glue.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fE4M9ZsF3kI/T_Ebg233BSI/AAAAAAAAAf4/WZp85WsPmd0/s1600/DSCF2964.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fE4M9ZsF3kI/T_Ebg233BSI/AAAAAAAAAf4/WZp85WsPmd0/s640/DSCF2964.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
It might also be a good idea to stuck the pendant in some BluTack while it dries to ensure it doesn't get knocked, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4k6xbuEdnmU/T_Eb9OJReZI/AAAAAAAAAgA/qXwNp4qiXFU/s1600/DSCF2965.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4k6xbuEdnmU/T_Eb9OJReZI/AAAAAAAAAgA/qXwNp4qiXFU/s640/DSCF2965.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now your pencil nub pendant is all ready to wear! Experiment with different pencil colours and lengths, or stack them all up into one necklace for a eclectic feel.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IK6b8T2yPKI/T--9vYVoHnI/AAAAAAAAAdo/D_88Y6j8EJU/s1600/DSCF2924.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IK6b8T2yPKI/T--9vYVoHnI/AAAAAAAAAdo/D_88Y6j8EJU/s640/DSCF2924.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Lately, I've been making alot of necklace pendants, and I've been trying to think of a use for this piece of beautiful driftwood I've had sitting in the corner of my room for ages- this is what I came up with!<br />
<br />
<br />
Driftwood is such a nice thing to have around your house- it's beautiful, and smells like the beach, which in the middle of Winter is a comforting thing! Also, this jewelry hanger is so easy to make, it literally took me 10 minutes- so why not have a go yourself?? Instructions after the jump, chums!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
So, all you'll need is:<br />
+ A piece of driftwood, or a nice branch<br />
+ Some wool or string<br />
+ A hammer<br />
+ Some nails (mine were 1.25mm in diameter)<br />
+ A ruler<br />
+ A pencil<br />
+ A drill & narrow drill bit (optional)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, wrap one end of the string around your branch...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r6cHVKVibBM/T--_bIq22UI/AAAAAAAAAdw/vPTWlqokhM4/s1600/DSCF2895.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r6cHVKVibBM/T--_bIq22UI/AAAAAAAAAdw/vPTWlqokhM4/s640/DSCF2895.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
... And tie it off with a double- know to secure.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V7N39MSCzzc/T--_uOAZGVI/AAAAAAAAAd4/7JlcmQEeh6E/s1600/DSCF2897.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V7N39MSCzzc/T--_uOAZGVI/AAAAAAAAAd4/7JlcmQEeh6E/s640/DSCF2897.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, repeat for the other end of your branch, and cut your piece of string the the same length as that of your branch. (My piece of driftwood was 90cm long, and so was my string.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8273R--_Egk/T-_APA9YBVI/AAAAAAAAAeA/eXMuPEbLraw/s1600/DSCF2898.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8273R--_Egk/T-_APA9YBVI/AAAAAAAAAeA/eXMuPEbLraw/s640/DSCF2898.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c-bO5TQs03M/T-_ASX5_xnI/AAAAAAAAAeI/aX45YIyMuAw/s1600/DSCF2899.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c-bO5TQs03M/T-_ASX5_xnI/AAAAAAAAAeI/aX45YIyMuAw/s640/DSCF2899.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
After you've done that, grab your pencil and ruler and measure and mark out where you'd like each nail to sit. (I used 7 nails, and placed them 9cm apart)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y6YBxlIphxI/T-_AvKkFirI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/2sz5wu3mSXE/s1600/DSCF2903.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y6YBxlIphxI/T-_AvKkFirI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/2sz5wu3mSXE/s640/DSCF2903.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now it's time to hammer in your nails! As I said before, I used some quite small ones- 1.25mm in diameter. I recommend using the smallest nails you can get your hands on, as because your branch will be relatively thin it'll be prone to splitting. Using smaller nails lowers your chances of this.<br />
And another tip: as I used driftwood, the sea salt it had been exposed to made it quite solid and hard to nail into. I ended up using a drill with a 1.5mm drill bit to drill part- way down before adding my nails- it made my job a LOT easier!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-srzod8EURcM/T-_BsyMhqmI/AAAAAAAAAeY/YhCkICo5S3k/s1600/DSCF2900.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-srzod8EURcM/T-_BsyMhqmI/AAAAAAAAAeY/YhCkICo5S3k/s640/DSCF2900.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7sghYDU-DXE/T-_BwYc7WvI/AAAAAAAAAeg/XBh_jgS87A0/s1600/DSCF2902.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7sghYDU-DXE/T-_BwYc7WvI/AAAAAAAAAeg/XBh_jgS87A0/s640/DSCF2902.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And you're finished- simple, right? Now, find somewhere to hand that beast and admire your hard (ish) work!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Hey guys! It's officially school holidays- YAAAY!<br />
Since it's the end of the semester, I brought all my school books home. I've been looking through them, and I've come to a conclusion: I'm a serial doodler. Seriously, almost every single page has some sort of decoration or design down the margin. I knew it was a habit, but I've only just realised how much of my book it takes up! Anyway, in this 'Show & Tell' I thought I'd show some of my better procrastination creations- because that's what all normal people do, right?<br />

So, the one up the top of the post was one I did one afternoon in Maths one afternoon- I decided I'd become a little tired of Pythagoras' area equations. I've been having a bit of fun with swallow illustrations lately- remind you of any particular header??<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
This Octopus- looking thing was actually one I drew in a particularly Law & Money class. To tell you the truth, I don't even know what we were supposed to be learning that day. But hey, look at the pretty picture I drew instead!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This is just a random face I drew in the last 15 minutes of a Maths class. I'd finished my work early, so no guilt there! Although, we did have a substitute teacher who gave me some quite weird looks...<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AaTq3Zt4wgs/T-1-GjSL6OI/AAAAAAAAAdM/VdNJfY_4QgY/s1600/DSCF2886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AaTq3Zt4wgs/T-1-GjSL6OI/AAAAAAAAAdM/VdNJfY_4QgY/s640/DSCF2886.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
... This was a true procrastination creation; I was supposed to be working on my autobiography, but I had no idea where to start, so I made this sub- page heading instead... Well, for all the teacher knew, I was working hard.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_PozCtros6I/T-1-k1-fBJI/AAAAAAAAAdU/mWh6xpiFuOM/s1600/DSCF2882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_PozCtros6I/T-1-k1-fBJI/AAAAAAAAAdU/mWh6xpiFuOM/s640/DSCF2882.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally, this was a little graphic esign- based doodle I did the other day in Physics/ Chemistry, because I couldn't see the projector screen properly and it was really frustrating me. I actually really like the concept of this kind of illustration, and a few days ago I started a bigger drawing similar to this. I really like how it's coming along, and I'll be posting the finished product soon- watch this space!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Anyhow, I hope you've liked this peek into my oh- so- productive workbooks. Gotta love highschool...<br />
<br />
And by the way, did you know today is the 2 month anniversary of Kooky Quirky Cute? I personally can NOT believe how fast this time's gone! I'm really happy with the way this blog's progessing, and you can bet you'll be seeing more of THIS in the future! And now it's holiday time and I'm officially free, there'll be plenty of awesome DIY's coming your way too, so stay tuned! :)Chloehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10669968901921533101noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724398675315527609.post-61056149082438050482012-06-26T01:31:00.000-07:002012-06-26T01:31:00.094-07:00DIY: Wrapped Gemstone/Seaglass/Seashell Pendants<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Hi guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while; it's been one busy end- of- term rush for me, I tell you! But the holidays are within reach, and with them will come some sweet new DIY's- promise!<br />
<br />
<br />
Anyhow, here are some wrapped pendants I made a few days ago. I had some fine copper wire left over from <a href="http://kookyquirkycute.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/show-tell-fun-with-soldering-iron.html">playing with soldering irons,</a> so I decided to use it up by making myself some indie bling! It's surprisingly easy- kind of like wrapping ribbon around a gift, really. Instructions after the jump, kids!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Supplies:<br />
<br />
+ Fine copper wire (mine was less than a millimetre wide)<br />
+ Precious stones/ seaglass/ seashells, etc.<br />
+ Some super glue or PolyCement<br />
+Pliers<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Rightio, so firstly I positioned the wire underneath my stone..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IqEhbluXpjA/T-lqxMtiuDI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/VVkAiHXo3H0/s1600/DSCF2779.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IqEhbluXpjA/T-lqxMtiuDI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/VVkAiHXo3H0/s640/DSCF2779.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
...Then flipped it over and bent the ends upwards, like so:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3Pq76U2tONQ/T-lrKggoaQI/AAAAAAAAAYY/Hme3E-uV8ug/s1600/DSCF2780.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3Pq76U2tONQ/T-lrKggoaQI/AAAAAAAAAYY/Hme3E-uV8ug/s640/DSCF2780.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Then, I crossed the ends over:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kPMXhz-gUtE/T-lrdG6TnuI/AAAAAAAAAYg/6v5ZRY8Hvrw/s1600/DSCF2782.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kPMXhz-gUtE/T-lrdG6TnuI/AAAAAAAAAYg/6v5ZRY8Hvrw/s640/DSCF2782.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And twisted both ends clockwise 90 degrees, so the wire formed a cross:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J0ROhne1HL0/T-lsEfP2BgI/AAAAAAAAAYo/_EJ8CISqEX0/s1600/DSCF2783.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J0ROhne1HL0/T-lsEfP2BgI/AAAAAAAAAYo/_EJ8CISqEX0/s640/DSCF2783.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then, I turned my gemstone over...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qCQjzahXIUY/T-lsa68MK-I/AAAAAAAAAYw/a3kS1_9MUho/s1600/DSCF2784.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qCQjzahXIUY/T-lsa68MK-I/AAAAAAAAAYw/a3kS1_9MUho/s640/DSCF2784.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Folded one end up to meet the other one...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cdlxiSt4zr0/T-ls2xnRpbI/AAAAAAAAAY4/_jHNbpMmM-Q/s1600/DSCF2786.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cdlxiSt4zr0/T-ls2xnRpbI/AAAAAAAAAY4/_jHNbpMmM-Q/s640/DSCF2786.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
...Then using my pliers, twisted the two ends together, making a loop and trimming off the excess wire so I could hand my pendant off a necklace, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_avxZ5qMhxM/T-ltU2YXNhI/AAAAAAAAAZA/o2FWmd29Iuc/s1600/DSCF2787.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_avxZ5qMhxM/T-ltU2YXNhI/AAAAAAAAAZA/o2FWmd29Iuc/s640/DSCF2787.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DPHt5cdhBN0/T-ltaWuSdYI/AAAAAAAAAZI/32ryFO4xaRk/s1600/DSCF2794.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DPHt5cdhBN0/T-ltaWuSdYI/AAAAAAAAAZI/32ryFO4xaRk/s640/DSCF2794.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MCGJtTtt57U/T-lt_rHkltI/AAAAAAAAAZQ/WyUGmXTTC1s/s1600/DSCF2798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MCGJtTtt57U/T-lt_rHkltI/AAAAAAAAAZQ/WyUGmXTTC1s/s640/DSCF2798.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Feel a little like your stone's in danger of slipping out of your wire harness? Never fear, PolyCement is here! A small dob on the cross on the back of your pendant should do the trick.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r9xfwSk3BdQ/T-luDP4vSXI/AAAAAAAAAZY/gKVUzstdMRs/s1600/DSCF2801.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r9xfwSk3BdQ/T-luDP4vSXI/AAAAAAAAAZY/gKVUzstdMRs/s640/DSCF2801.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Tada! All finished! How simple, hey? Of course, you don't always need to use this method to wrap<br />
your precious objects. Get creative- check out how I wrapped this seashell and piece of seaglass!<br />
<br />

Hey guys! I thought I'd share a Show & Tell post with you all today. This is a halter top I made about 3 months ago, but I'd never completely finished it... till now, that is! It's cut off a pattern I found in our pattern box- it's a true retro one too, because the print date is 1976! I used three hooks- and- eyes to close up the front, which I think worked pretty well. Here are some photos I took:- enjoy!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You like?? I've been wanting to make one of these skirts for AGES, and I've finally got around to it! I had a bit of a thrifting rampage the other day, and I picked up this fabric for a dollar. ONE DOLLAR. I even measured it- I got 4 and a half metres! FOR A DOLLAR! Yeah, I think you get it. It's this crepe-y kind of material, and works really well as a drapy circle skirt.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WLtBUAYOOaY/T9v332Rb0UI/AAAAAAAAATw/W6FeiF9h72U/s1600/DSCF2613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WLtBUAYOOaY/T9v332Rb0UI/AAAAAAAAATw/W6FeiF9h72U/s640/DSCF2613.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>

I've written a pretty comprehensive tutorial too, so you can all have a go in your spare time if you like! It's really easy, I promise! If you're game, continue reading- instructions after the jump!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, you'll need:</div>
<br />
+ Some fabric- at least one square metre<br />
+ A sewing machine<br />
+ An over- locker<br />
+ A dressmaker's measuring tape<br />
+ Some tailor's chalk<br />
+ Some safety and tailor's pins<br />
+ Some velcrove<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, you'll need to work out the measurements for your skirt. Measure your waist (mine was 62cm, if you'd like to go off my measurements), then divide it by pi- this will be the diameter of the waist hole in your skirt. Next, measure from your waistline to where you'd like the skirt to fall to- this will be your skirt length measurement. (Mine was 40 cm long.) Now, multiply your skirt length by 2 and add the diameter of your waist hole measurement (Mine was 40cm+40cm+20cm)- this will equal the diameter of your circle skirt! (Mine equalled a neat 1 metre!) Ugh, thank god that's over.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, lay your fabric out on the floor. Pin your tailor's measuring tape to where you'd like the centre of the skirt to be. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tDZflJXyXBw/T9v58d9wrVI/AAAAAAAAAT4/kWeK14hTssE/s1600/DSCF2616.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tDZflJXyXBw/T9v58d9wrVI/AAAAAAAAAT4/kWeK14hTssE/s640/DSCF2616.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Cut your final diameter measurement in half (So 50cm for me) and using your tailor's chalk draw a circle this distance from the centre, using the tailor's measuring tape as your guide. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BpT8Z9ZLoc/T9v6b9UZ2tI/AAAAAAAAAUA/jbWrkEws2EE/s1600/DSCF2621.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BpT8Z9ZLoc/T9v6b9UZ2tI/AAAAAAAAAUA/jbWrkEws2EE/s640/DSCF2621.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, repeat this process for your waist hole- cut your waist diameter in half (10cm for me) and trace a second circle onto the fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E7J23eDeLGI/T9v63mgruJI/AAAAAAAAAUI/pxGOWmzQOl4/s1600/DSCF2628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-E7J23eDeLGI/T9v63mgruJI/AAAAAAAAAUI/pxGOWmzQOl4/s640/DSCF2628.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, cut out both circles from the fabric, like so:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wf0LLR67wjo/T9v7LqRpjEI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/zZSR5ze5a9c/s1600/DSCF2632.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wf0LLR67wjo/T9v7LqRpjEI/AAAAAAAAAUQ/zZSR5ze5a9c/s640/DSCF2632.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yGmvPNbAxIM/T9v7PMu7SlI/AAAAAAAAAUY/7Ko6OC1MFj8/s1600/DSCF2635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yGmvPNbAxIM/T9v7PMu7SlI/AAAAAAAAAUY/7Ko6OC1MFj8/s640/DSCF2635.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IfJJTASD04M/T9v7dxicECI/AAAAAAAAAUg/Q--B82-7rWw/s1600/DSCF2647.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IfJJTASD04M/T9v7dxicECI/AAAAAAAAAUg/Q--B82-7rWw/s640/DSCF2647.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, time to get out Mr. Over- Locker! Go around all of your edges to prevent fraying. (If you're using a thicker fabric, you can probably skip this step.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EwbtVcwK6mc/T9v78DJPMBI/AAAAAAAAAUo/eP8c4uwahRs/s1600/DSCF2674.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EwbtVcwK6mc/T9v78DJPMBI/AAAAAAAAAUo/eP8c4uwahRs/s640/DSCF2674.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, cut out your waistband. The length will be that of the first measurement you took, the waist circumference (Mine was 62cm), plus a little more just in case. I cut out at 15cm wide strip, so when it's doubled over it'll be about 7cm wide.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-edbc4pBVkOk/T9v9L_yGmlI/AAAAAAAAAU4/0I3J8SIcfJM/s1600/cropped+cutting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-edbc4pBVkOk/T9v9L_yGmlI/AAAAAAAAAU4/0I3J8SIcfJM/s640/cropped+cutting.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, fold your waistband in half and line the edges up with that of your inner waist circle on the over- locker. This will effectively attach your waistband.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Lg7u8-pofdQ/T9v9mNIF1WI/AAAAAAAAAVA/UbUU7G5VUmM/s1600/DSCF2681.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Lg7u8-pofdQ/T9v9mNIF1WI/AAAAAAAAAVA/UbUU7G5VUmM/s640/DSCF2681.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, the two edges of your waistband will be sitting there awkwardly like this, right?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hBwBKVDM-8c/T9v97odwhKI/AAAAAAAAAVI/PU__5_0RDPs/s1600/DSCF2688.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hBwBKVDM-8c/T9v97odwhKI/AAAAAAAAAVI/PU__5_0RDPs/s640/DSCF2688.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Don't worry- it's how we'll attach our velcrove! Simply cut about 10cm down into the skirt, continuing on from this gap, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iWTRP76d5qs/T9v-VE5RSkI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/crPuSbHtsaU/s1600/DSCF2690.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iWTRP76d5qs/T9v-VE5RSkI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/crPuSbHtsaU/s640/DSCF2690.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then over- lock over the edges, just to make sure it doesn't fray into nothingness.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KGo6ry3zGu4/T9v-qG2pd9I/AAAAAAAAAVY/zpvWHuh5XUE/s1600/DSCF2692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KGo6ry3zGu4/T9v-qG2pd9I/AAAAAAAAAVY/zpvWHuh5XUE/s640/DSCF2692.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Lastly, measure out two pieces of velcrove to fit this gap:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rFS4cyESJkI/T9v-5JSCsrI/AAAAAAAAAVg/B79SxUi5wIQ/s1600/DSCF2693.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rFS4cyESJkI/T9v-5JSCsrI/AAAAAAAAAVg/B79SxUi5wIQ/s640/DSCF2693.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Sew it on (remember to have one fluffy side and one rough side facing towards you, or it won't work!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Goyqf1oNZfc/T9v_Kfc884I/AAAAAAAAAVo/Xjr-b8bZGWI/s1600/DSCF2695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Goyqf1oNZfc/T9v_Kfc884I/AAAAAAAAAVo/Xjr-b8bZGWI/s640/DSCF2695.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And while you have Mr. Sewing Machine out, fold over the over- locked hem of your skirt about1- 2cm and hem it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z8UNTkW7kx8/T9v_gYIhniI/AAAAAAAAAVw/-JelTVHmMQY/s1600/DSCF2697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z8UNTkW7kx8/T9v_gYIhniI/AAAAAAAAAVw/-JelTVHmMQY/s640/DSCF2697.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
YES! All done! I've gotta say, that was one mother of a tutorial, but I'm glad I did it! Enjoy! x<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I think these are the sweetest little envelopes- and so simple to make, too! I think they'd make the perfect addition to a handmade birthday card, or maybe even a Valentine's Day surprise, but that's just my opinion!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
See the tutorial for these envelopes after the jump! <br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jLLjwEagJxE/T9bJL2Uhf1I/AAAAAAAAAQ0/pShNhhF-FPg/s1600/SDC11264.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jLLjwEagJxE/T9bJL2Uhf1I/AAAAAAAAAQ0/pShNhhF-FPg/s640/SDC11264.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
- So, to make these, you'll need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Some brown paper bags</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ A ruler</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ a pencil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Some scissors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
+ Some decorations; cut- out hearts, buttons, embroidery thread, stencils, etc.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Firstly, using your ruler make a mark 10.5 cm and then 18cm up the middle of your paper bag:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJmzsrn1Dig/T9bJ_2JGzMI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/ObHHEJwPCe4/s1600/SDC11266.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJmzsrn1Dig/T9bJ_2JGzMI/AAAAAAAAAQ8/ObHHEJwPCe4/s640/SDC11266.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, draw a straight line through the bottom mark, like so:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U_8B1KvgyNM/T9bKSQlrFXI/AAAAAAAAARE/Es7TCw5MWKc/s1600/SDC11267.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-U_8B1KvgyNM/T9bKSQlrFXI/AAAAAAAAARE/Es7TCw5MWKc/s640/SDC11267.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, draw lines from the higher mark (the one sitting 18cm up the middle of your bag) down to the very edges of the lower line:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yLXIlD_c_SY/T9bK5cBMKUI/AAAAAAAAARM/73zPBGzgFr0/s1600/SDC11268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yLXIlD_c_SY/T9bK5cBMKUI/AAAAAAAAARM/73zPBGzgFr0/s640/SDC11268.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I9hzVQhLAuk/T9bLX72-QHI/AAAAAAAAARc/7mi661_1p68/s1600/SDC11269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I9hzVQhLAuk/T9bLX72-QHI/AAAAAAAAARc/7mi661_1p68/s640/SDC11269.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, you should be left with something that looks a little like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XrtkRlvZ2GA/T9bLvnQBy5I/AAAAAAAAARk/cIzdMCRwTgY/s1600/SDC11272.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XrtkRlvZ2GA/T9bLvnQBy5I/AAAAAAAAARk/cIzdMCRwTgY/s640/SDC11272.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, your envelope is ready to cut out! This part is easy; just along the top line/s that form the peak.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fbw2zUwpHNw/T9bMXoz9RHI/AAAAAAAAARs/RVqsXA3DI4k/s1600/SDC11275.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fbw2zUwpHNw/T9bMXoz9RHI/AAAAAAAAARs/RVqsXA3DI4k/s640/SDC11275.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
If you prefer, you can now either cut off or fold in the front triangle so you don't have two flaps. I decided to fold mine inside the envelope, like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LX_JvvFCGMc/T9bNIxjbj5I/AAAAAAAAAR8/y5G_63Qe15s/s1600/SDC11302.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="388" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LX_JvvFCGMc/T9bNIxjbj5I/AAAAAAAAAR8/y5G_63Qe15s/s640/SDC11302.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
And voila, your envelope is all done! Now, feel free to decorate it however you like.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-snJo09E0JbM/T9FVn9aYfbI/AAAAAAAAAOg/U6AHGDHexwM/s1600/abfkidf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-snJo09E0JbM/T9FVn9aYfbI/AAAAAAAAAOg/U6AHGDHexwM/s640/abfkidf.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Hands up who wants one of these? I've had this watch face sitting around for <em>years</em>- literally! It was a cheap $10 watch, but within a week I'd accidentally submerged it in water, and that was the end of that one. I'd kept it, knowing I'd one day find a use for it- and here it is! <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Steampunk accessories really interest me- the whole metallic, clockworky, quirky feel of it just sucks me in! This is a quite simple DIY project, really- all you need is a few materials and a bit of patience when it comes to unassembling the watch face.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Want to make one of these for yourself? (or someone else, for that matter!) Just keep reading- instructions after the jump!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
- To make this pendant, you'll need:<br />
<br />
+ A watch (try and find a broken one- recycling gets bonus points!)<br />
+ Some pliers<br />
+ 2 jump rings<br />
+ Some chain<br />
+ A knife<br />
+ Some sort of glue (I used Poly Cement, but super glue or that of a hot glue gun will work equally well!)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
First up, you'll need to detach the band from your watch. Depending on the sort (leather strap, chain, etc.), you'll need to tackle it differently; there are some good instructions <a href="http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CGUQFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.watchuseek.com%2Ff2%2Fhow-do-i-take-band-off-watch-like-pics-544109.html&ei=TVPRT8vrHoPsmAWW_-2XAw&usg=AFQjCNFuzBq1vte-LhPlKL7ZA0uUQIyrAg">here.</a> <br />
Mine came off with a firm tug- I had leather straps, so the rod holding them on popped out quite easily, but I expect the metal chain ones might take a bit more than that.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, using your pliers pull out the pin on the side of the watch- this should come out fairly easily.<br />
(I'm using a different watch here- sorry about that!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tGWIzQ1CupQ/T9Fckj5xW7I/AAAAAAAAAOw/GLtZPgqthb8/s1600/SDC11226.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tGWIzQ1CupQ/T9Fckj5xW7I/AAAAAAAAAOw/GLtZPgqthb8/s640/SDC11226.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, slide the tip of your knife under the back part of the watch and use it to lever it open..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-30zX3890pic/T9FdnfOIfPI/AAAAAAAAAO4/TxFiXbgIOtc/s1600/SDC11236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-30zX3890pic/T9FdnfOIfPI/AAAAAAAAAO4/TxFiXbgIOtc/s640/SDC11236.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now the fun part- pulling apart your watch! I used my knife for this, as some things like the battery need a little help to come out. Each watch differs internally, so just take your time and try not to bend anything too much. (take it from me, those little hands are ridiculously fragile!)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, arrange all of your little watch pieces inside the glass casing. You might not want to use everything; I had a few plastic components that I decided to bin.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pRULrP2vAQE/T9FgeC1QfOI/AAAAAAAAAPI/rf70HGEXf8s/s1600/SDC11219.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pRULrP2vAQE/T9FgeC1QfOI/AAAAAAAAAPI/rf70HGEXf8s/s640/SDC11219.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Now, time to secure your arrangement! I used Poly Cement- I actually think it's a bit of a DIY miracle! I got it from my local newsagents in the stationary/ crafty section for about $3. It's kind of a cross petween a PVA and super glue- it's strong, but won't glue your fingers together, and has a kind of gummy consistancy. Just beware, it's largely made up of polystyrene, which can't be broken down naturally and without the help of acetone, so use it in a well- ventilated area and try not to waste it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BhrcJCT2HKc/T9FiK4rCaAI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/J6kBMRUKENQ/s1600/SDC11297.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BhrcJCT2HKc/T9FiK4rCaAI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/J6kBMRUKENQ/s640/SDC11297.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Anyway, back to DIYing...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UfvWkk2xQV0/T9FicdRPbwI/AAAAAAAAAPc/XAUcfyHLaIM/s1600/SDC11221.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UfvWkk2xQV0/T9FicdRPbwI/AAAAAAAAAPc/XAUcfyHLaIM/s640/SDC11221.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Once you've covered the bottom of the blass with glue, set aside your pendant somewhere where it can be left to dry in peace. If it's a sunny day, put it outside! I put mine in our bathroom and turned on the fan- it was touch- dry within an hour, and fully hardened in 2-3 hours.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Finally, attach your jump rings to the two bars that would usually connect the wrist straps. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSvvRYlmxgA/T9FniZHz3YI/AAAAAAAAAP0/Y9fZnUdf3NU/s1600/SDC11290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSvvRYlmxgA/T9FniZHz3YI/AAAAAAAAAP0/Y9fZnUdf3NU/s640/SDC11290.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Tada! All done! I think this is a really cute accessory. I decided not to put the back on the watch afterwards, as I liked the see- through effect and light that came through the pendant, but that's up to you.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

(PS: Do you like my jacket? It's a realy army corp. military coat! I picked it up at an Op- Shop last year for $15- ridiculous, I know. I really lucked out that day!) </div>Chloehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10669968901921533101noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724398675315527609.post-49374611933415657472012-06-03T01:23:00.002-07:002012-07-12T18:15:00.556-07:00DIY: Swallow Print Tights<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4q_Xn7zmlvU/T8sedc3eieI/AAAAAAAAAMo/qMLP3rKEmuI/s1600/SDC11095.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4q_Xn7zmlvU/T8sedc3eieI/AAAAAAAAAMo/qMLP3rKEmuI/s640/SDC11095.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
How sweet are these printed tights?? I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now, and I'm so happy with the finished product! Believe it or not, they're actually so simple to make. All you need is a little fabric paint and of course some tights!<br />
<br />
<br />
Want to learn how to make some of your own? Instructions after the break!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Ok, so you'll need:<br />
<br />
<br />
+ Some tights (mine were quite sheer, but in hindsight I'd probably prefer to have chosen some thicker ones)<br />
+ Some fabric paint (hobbytex will also work!)<br />
+ A print- out of the graphic you want printed on your tights<br />
+ Some scissors<br />
+ A paint brush<br />
+ Some cardboard (I used the box I bought my tights in)<br />
+ A machine clothes dryer<br />
+ A texta<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Firstly, cut your chosen graphic out of the middle of the piece of paper. Careful, careful!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E4UZIYB7-4k/T8saF_CmICI/AAAAAAAAAME/DZrjv_evr4g/s1600/SDC11046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E4UZIYB7-4k/T8saF_CmICI/AAAAAAAAAME/DZrjv_evr4g/s400/SDC11046.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, take your brush, fabric paint, tights and cardboard somewhere like outside, where it won't matter if you spill a little paint. Put your cardboard inside one leg of your tights and shimmy it down to the bottom. Place your stencil onto the tights and dab the paint on carefully.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mNFwRgvZQXs/T8sbNDiyE6I/AAAAAAAAAMM/mINrmwroPoA/s1600/Printed+tights.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mNFwRgvZQXs/T8sbNDiyE6I/AAAAAAAAAMM/mINrmwroPoA/s400/Printed+tights.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once you've finished printing on your design, remove the stencil and let it dry If you've got a heater or fan handy, this can greatly speed up this process. Once it's dry, shimmy the tights down a fraction and repeat until you've covered your tights in prints.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now you've done the hard yards, try on your tights. Are there any gaps where a print should be?? If so, use your texta to mark you tights. Take them off and print over these marks- what a relief to be done with all the printing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, put your tights in the clothes dryer for around 5 minutes at average heat. Once the time's up, take them out, let them cool a bit and put them in for the same amount of time again. If you're washing your tights regularly, you want to make sure the pigment's set!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YJsAfWDvR9E/T8sdDdGXFuI/AAAAAAAAAMY/zAQ-Y4zYpgo/s1600/SDC11080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YJsAfWDvR9E/T8sdDdGXFuI/AAAAAAAAAMY/zAQ-Y4zYpgo/s400/SDC11080.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And voila- all finished! Now all that's left is to try them out!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
I've always thought ball chain would make for a pretty sweet ring, and it's been a bit of a trend lately, so I thought I'd finally give it a go- with quite cool results!<br />
<br />
<br />
This is a mini DIY, really- it's so simple, I almost wouldn't even call it that! Ball chain can be found in almost any household- mine came from a few tags off recent purchases. Otherwise, it can easily be found on sites like eBay and Etsy. <br />

<br />
<br />
-You'll need:<br />
<br />
+ A tailor's measuring tape<br />
+ A ring that fits you comfortably<br />
+ Some scissors<br />
+ Some ball chain-- That's it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mkxs23c06R8/T8SdFwyxNvI/AAAAAAAAAJM/BW_j6rextW0/s1600/SDC10957.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mkxs23c06R8/T8SdFwyxNvI/AAAAAAAAAJM/BW_j6rextW0/s640/SDC10957.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
- Using your tailor's tape, measure the circumference of your preferred ring, noting the measurement.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-buEhSnN0LTA/T8SdfIw1g0I/AAAAAAAAAJU/Lsk2Bnd4Kzk/s1600/SDC10960.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-buEhSnN0LTA/T8SdfIw1g0I/AAAAAAAAAJU/Lsk2Bnd4Kzk/s640/SDC10960.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
- Then, measure a length of ball chain to match this measurement.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Cv5ojI9f530/T8SefU0DJpI/AAAAAAAAAJc/h9ehkDbszYs/s1600/SDC10963.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Cv5ojI9f530/T8SefU0DJpI/AAAAAAAAAJc/h9ehkDbszYs/s640/SDC10963.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
- Finally, trim off any excess ball chain and connect the two ends together. See what I mean- definately a mini DIY!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YRqQCyaIgak/T8SfHz6Ok2I/AAAAAAAAAJk/Y1u1Gnpq6p0/s1600/SDC10968.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YRqQCyaIgak/T8SfHz6Ok2I/AAAAAAAAAJk/Y1u1Gnpq6p0/s640/SDC10968.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
- This is a look I think works best when varied chain widths and colours are worn together, so don't be afraid to stack them up!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fg66yD7_VKI/T8ShCmWHivI/AAAAAAAAAJs/G16mtNsgWg0/s1600/modelling+ball+chain+rings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="504" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Fg66yD7_VKI/T8ShCmWHivI/AAAAAAAAAJs/G16mtNsgWg0/s640/modelling+ball+chain+rings.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rVDujkpl5XY/T8SkA4ttwAI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/IsdeZZ3TV_o/s1600/ball+chaing+rings+touched+up.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="624" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rVDujkpl5XY/T8SkA4ttwAI/AAAAAAAAAJ4/IsdeZZ3TV_o/s640/ball+chaing+rings+touched+up.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And by the way, happy 1 Month K.Q.C. Anniversary! I've loved this past month of blogging, and I can't wait to see where this goes in the future. Thanks for your support!<br />

<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Lately, I’ve
been playing around with soldering irons. I’ll admit, this was a technique I
learnt at school (thanks Product Design teacher!), but seriously, the things
you can do with this little tool are amazing! If you don’t already know,
soldering is a technique where solder and flux are used to connect things
together. Metal is the most commonly soldered, but with a bit of copper tape,
almost anything will work! This is also a technique used to create things like
stained glass windows (lead lights), jewelry, and metal models.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

saying, I’ve been playing around and with a bit of time and planning I’ve
managed to turn out a few quite cool things. Show and tell time? Yes please!
Here are some of my latest creations:<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The first
thing I made was this rustic- look birdcage. I know, it’s not finished yet- the
final product will have rings covering the whole top half, as I’ve started to
do, and I’m thinking about painting it white. It’s aimed for that kind of
imperfect, lop- sided feel, like a kind of steampunk cage. It’s made of copper
wire, and of course flux and solder.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The second
thing I made was this Deathly Hallows necklace pendant. I must confess, I’m
quite a Harry Potter fan, and I’ve been looking for one of these for ages. But
if you can’t find it, make it, right? I actually decided to coat each piece of
copper wire in solder before assembling it, hence the shiny silver look.
And because it’ s worn as jewelry, I decided to coat it in clear nail polish before
wearing, just to be on the safe side. (solder contains low levels of lead,

<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">And finally
(my personal favourite!), I made this quirky little oversize key. It was
actually really simple- I shaped the ornate top, twisted the ends around the
key body and soldered it on, then cut a jagged edge out of a piece of copper
sheet and attached it. I think the fact that it’s copper really adds to the
whole steampunk feel. I could imagine it belonging to a heavy lock on the doors
of a gothic mansion!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

my show and tell for the day. What do you think? Which is your favourite? <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iskC0IV-JW4/T7y-R82RriI/AAAAAAAAAH8/YFA2kksFjuY/s1600/SDC10923.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iskC0IV-JW4/T7y-R82RriI/AAAAAAAAAH8/YFA2kksFjuY/s640/SDC10923.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Lately, I've been noticing the new trend in sunglasses- Ray- Ban shaped lenses, but with a straight top edge. It's quite futuristic, and is favoured by the likes of Lady Gaga-<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Sa7e0pzQklc/T7y0jW_HLJI/AAAAAAAAAHE/I98uTplcprY/s1600/lady+gaga.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Sa7e0pzQklc/T7y0jW_HLJI/AAAAAAAAAHE/I98uTplcprY/s640/lady+gaga.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I actually think these vintage Versaces are quite cool- they're extreme, but not so much that you couldn't get away with it! I've had a pair of old sunnies lying around for ages- a massive Nicole Ritchie- type cut from the 90s, printed in yellow and green- yum! I wore them as part of a costume a few times, but I was convinced I could turn them into something wearable. Finally, I've figured it out- why not turn them into something Gaga- worthy?<br />
<br />
So without further ado, here's how I did it:<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wnoVO_ggudQ/T7y2fbiPF5I/AAAAAAAAAHM/PUeQweQ1mcI/s1600/SDC10858.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wnoVO_ggudQ/T7y2fbiPF5I/AAAAAAAAAHM/PUeQweQ1mcI/s640/SDC10858.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
- Firstly, I needed to fish out some black nail polish, some polish remover and cotton- ear buds, some super glue, some ridiculously sparkly decorative ribbon and of course, my sunglasses!<br />
<br />
<br />
As you can see, my sunnies have already been half- painted. To do this, all you need is nail polish- it's essentially enamel, which means it's really sturdy and won't chip or flake without putting up a fight. Another good thing about nail polish is that the brush is so small, it's easy to get into all the nooks and crannies of your glasses.<br />
<br />
I found a handy way to combat the streaky effect you sometimes get when you go over an area several times is to breathe onto it- the carbon dioxide and moisture in my breath smoothed out the polish really well!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w_ducaSccNw/T7y4WYttapI/AAAAAAAAAHU/Kwc68tz1Ul8/s1600/SDC10863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w_ducaSccNw/T7y4WYttapI/AAAAAAAAAHU/Kwc68tz1Ul8/s640/SDC10863.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After doing this, I noticed I'd got a few flecks of polish onto my lenses. This was easily fixed- I simply dipped a cotton ear bud into some polish remover and cleaned up my mistakes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A9-CqVFZTvI/T7y5DHqvfqI/AAAAAAAAAHc/1oVK0Fw8I6U/s1600/SDC10870.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A9-CqVFZTvI/T7y5DHqvfqI/AAAAAAAAAHc/1oVK0Fw8I6U/s640/SDC10870.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next, I measured the distance along the top of my glasses and cut a piece of decorative ribbon to fit this length. Using another cotton ear bud, I dabbed a small amount of glue along the edge of the glasses, then quickly adhered my ribbon. When I got to the ends, I folded the edges underneath, as shown below:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qiHMXrnRO4E/T7y6rB4wyEI/AAAAAAAAAHk/W5aRXzLx1DY/s1600/gdrgdfgd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qiHMXrnRO4E/T7y6rB4wyEI/AAAAAAAAAHk/W5aRXzLx1DY/s640/gdrgdfgd.jpg" width="568" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Because my glasses came down over my nose in the middle, one strip of ribbon didn't entirely cover the top edge, so I added a second small piece to fill the gap:-<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aXEgLELctOc/T7y7amWjx6I/AAAAAAAAAHs/4l6-7sUL6gw/s1600/SDC10882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aXEgLELctOc/T7y7amWjx6I/AAAAAAAAAHs/4l6-7sUL6gw/s640/SDC10882.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And voila- all finished! Now all I need is a place to wear my crazy new specs...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
